Sukie's Surgery Fund
Our much beloved Sukie was hit by a car this week, and left for dead by the careless driver. Somehow she managed to drag herself back inside and found us in the loungeroom where she finaly collapsed.
We rushed her to the after hours vet who helped with her pain and kept her comfortable, before giving a thourough check-up and x-ray. Thankfully Sukie was going to survive, but her leg and shoulder could not be saved, and would need to be amputated.
We now have her back home, and are keeping her under close care while she heals from her surgery, broken ribs, and other injuries. She will need lots of love and support while she gets used to being her new 3-legged Sukie self. And thankfully has lots of love and care at home.
We are new parents on a limited income, and have been knocked over by the accumilating emergency veterinary bills. Rising to $2500 in a matter of days. Definitely not something we'd planned for.
We'd be so greatful for any help towards these bills, no matter how small. So we can focus on getting our Sukie back to health.
Sukie has had a rough trot over the years. Rescued from a chook pen where she was kept for breeding at 3 years old. She was extremely timid when she was first brought in. She didn't want to go near anyone for a the first year, and wouldn't step outside at all. Over the last few years in her loving home, she has become very affectionate and and perhaps too adventurous for her own good.
We really hope this accident doesn't undo the progress she's made over the years, but we've seen how far she's come in the past, so we're confident she'll be able to adapt just as well on 3 legs as she has on 4.
Thanks for your support.
