Sukhino Float Center in SoIN

Donazione protetta

9.30.17 Update:

We are so grateful for all of your support! We are working on securing SBA loans to cover the rest of our construction costs, so as of today, we are re-purposing this campaign.

One of our core values is to give back to the community. We believe strongly in taking care of each other, especially those in challenging situations. As of today, we are removing the option to pre-purchase float packages from this campaign, since those are available on our website. Instead, we're gathering donations for a community "scholarship". We will partner with local organizations to help veterans and those with PTSD , those recovering from addiction, and others who can benefit from floatation therapy.

Funds received as cash (non-reward) and those from the "Scholarship" tier will remain in a separate account and will be held to help our local community members who may not otherwise be able to afford the benefits of floating.

Wishing you all happiness and joy.

The Hannans

In today’s world, Americans are working harder, longer, and with fewer vacations than ever. More and more individuals try to manage extreme stress, anxiety, and chronic pain, and the cycle is endless. Without
the chance to stop and heal, pressure, pain, and mental anguish snowball, causing more pressure, pain, and anguish.

Knowing this, we are bringing a solution to New Albany Indiana: Sukhino Float Center. Floating provides a unique opportunity to disconnect from the five senses and turn inward for a truly relaxing experience. You'll step into a pod with about 10 inches of water, warmed to your external body temperature. As you lie back into the water, you'll float effortlessly with over 800 pounds of salt to keep you afloat.

You can choose to keep the lights on or off, and listen to music or relish in silence, as you drift into a sense of comfort and stillness. Floating has many benefits, ranging from relaxation to targeting common health issues to an overall sense of wellbeing.

“Sukhino” is a Sanskrit word that means “centered in happiness and joy, free from suffering”. We hope to bring this elevated sense of being to help the:

•80% of workers feel stress on the job, nearly half of whom say they need help in learning how to manage stress
(source: American Institute of Stress)

• 33% of the population (75 million American adults) who battle high blood pressure
(source: Center for Disease Control and Prevention)

•22.7% of the population (54.4 million American adults) who suffer from arthritis

• 13% of the population (37 million American adults) who are plagued with migraines

• 8% of the population(24.4 million American adults) who have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

• 2% of the population (5 million American adults) who are diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a condition that causes pain, fatigue, sleep problems, difficulty thinking and remembering, and more
(source: Center for Disease Control and Prevention)

•1.5% of the population (3.3 million American adults) who have an anxiety disorder

Sukhino Float Center will serve everyone in the groups listed above.

Floating is scientifically proven to help ease the symptoms of each of the conditions noted above.

Not just woo-woo hippie stuff
Trust us, we’ve heard it all. A lot of people think floatation is just a new age fad. Truthfully, it’s been around for decades, and it has been studied relentlessly by the science community due to its overwhelming results. Don’t just take our word for it though….

Who benefits from floating?
People of all backgrounds are finding major benefits from floating. Here are some of the most popular reasons why people are floating:

Managing chronic illnesses
Floating relieves symptoms of many illness, from addiction/withdrawal recovery to fibromyalgia and arthritis, and even high blood pressure.

Expecting Moms
Pregnancy is a  40-week adventure of constant demands on the body. The symptoms and ailments are many, and floating can relieve many of them, especially the physical pressure of added weight, swelling, and joint stress.

Athletes
Many professional teams use float therapy in their training programs, including the the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Golden State Warriors, MMA athletes, and many more.

• Meditators
As a yoga teacher, Kim can attest to the fact that many people want to meditate, but have a hard time settling into stillness and are easily distracted. Floating removes those distractions and makes it easier to turn inward. Many individuals claim to have life-altering epiphanies in the tank.

Celebrities
Carl Lewis, Tim Ferris, Joe Rogan, John Lennon, Elle Macpherson, Zac Efron, Jeff Bridges, Kristen Wiig just to name a few.

Artists
Artists, actors, comedians, writers, and intellectuals use float therapy to enhance creativity, unlock mental block, and find inspiration.

Everyone else
As Americans, we’re overworked and rarely prioritize self-care. We’re stressed out, unhealthy, and suffer from chronic diseases and burnout. We’re in the age of information overload, so stealing a few minutes to “just be” is invaluable.

Committed to the Community

We plan to offer a highly discounted multi-float package for individuals who are managing life with chronic pain or illness. With a doctor’s note, these individuals will be able to reduce symptoms like chronic pain, migraines, anxiety, and more. We plan to build an open tank room (like a giant bath tub) with accessible features like grab bars and space for a helper who is assisting.

It is our hope to create a “float scholarship fund” to allow those who are unable to cover the expense of floating to still have access to the healing benefits it affords.

Further, we will continue to be active members of our community and will organize clothing, food, and supply drives for local shelters and other charitable organizations.

Where We Are Today

We are finalizing the details of our rental space at The Kula Center, a holistic wellness center in New Albanay, Indiana. That space will require a complete gut job and new build-out to provide the exact specifications to create the perfect floating environment. As simple as this may sound, every detail is crucial to creating the soundproof, waterproof, lightproof rooms needed for true REST (restricted environmental stimulus therapy).

We will be securing small business loans to cover the majority of the expenses, but will use the funds from this campaign to serve as the down payment on that loan. We are aiming for a soft launch in December, with a grand opening of January 2018.

How Your Contribution Will Be Used
(All contributions received before September 30, 2017 will be allocated to the following list. As of that date, we have transformed the campaign to allow the public to pre-purchase floats for those in need, and we will secure other financing options for construction and equipment)

Below is a list of expenses we need to cover before opening:

• Build out of the float center: new plumbing, framing, drywall, tiles, fixtures, furnishings

• Purchase of two float pods and one open floating pool

• Purchase of salt, cleaning supplies, and maintenance equipment

Stretch Goals
We will open with two float pods and one float pool with private showers and changing areas. If we were to exceed our goal by a substantial amount, we would use the funds in the following ways:

• Build a halotherapy room (salt cave) as an additional service offering

• Maximize the quality of our float rooms through upgraded materials

• Hire a part-time employee

• Upgrade our commitment to the float scholarship fund

Other Ways You Can Help
Even if you aren’t able to contribute financially at this time, there are two big ways you can help to get the word out:

• Share this campaign. Even if you don’t live near New Albany, IN, you never know who would like to contribute to bring relief to those who need it. Please share this even if you think it might not matter, because it really does!

• Get the word out about floating. While float therapy has been around since the 1970s, many regions still do not have a float center. For many people, it’s the hope they’ve been seeking.
