Journey To Miami City Ballet 17/18

Dear family and friends,
My name is Sujanya. I am South Asian-Canadian, born in Vancouver and 14 years old. I'm aspiring to be a classical ballet dancer. Thanks to my parents and grandparents who have helped me follow my passion, I've had some excellent opportunities and training in Vancouver, Canada- where I was born and raised.
This past summer, I auditioned and was accepted to the Miami City Ballet Summer School. After the 5 weeks of intense training, I was invited by the school director, Arantxa Ochoa, to join the Miami City Ballet School's Pre-Professional Division for the school year 2017/2018.
It was a wonderful surprise and honour to be included in this special group! The curriculum includes ballet technique, variations, pas de deux, repertory, choreography, and contemporary training. Miami City Ballet's Pre-Professional Division trains students to be versatile 21st century dancers. My dream is to join this division.
After we received the good news, my mother asked me a few questions:
"Is my dream to be a professional dancer?"
I replied YES.
"Will I be able to maintain my 90% average this coming school year? (Grade 11)?"
I replied YES.
"Will I be able to live without family around for a full school year?"
I replied YES.
... She believes in me. The Miami City Ballet School believes in me. I hope you will believe in me too!
Please help me on my journey as I try to raise enough money to fulfill this dream.
Here is a breakdown of my expenses:
Tuition - $6,200 USD
Accomodation - $9,000 USD
Food - $5,000 USD
Incidentals and Ballet Supplies - $1,500 USD
Travel Roundtrip 2x - $1,300 USD
TOTAL: $23,000 USD
My parents cannot afford to send me to Miami on their own. That is why I am hoping to raise $15,000 USD to pursue my dream. I am giving this a shot and counting on my community on support.
Love,
Sujanya
