Sue Daniels Final Arrangements

Donation protected

Susan "Sue" Daniels (Thacker) lost her 14-month battle with a rare form of T-Cell Lymphoma on Nov 19th, 2017.

A loving wife, Aunt, Great Aunt, leader and social activist, Sue spent 20+ years in Retail Management with the HBC Company. Working for a number of different Zeller's locations in the Okanagan Valley, BC as well as a Head Office representative for new stores, traveling the length and breadth of Canada, helping to setup and open dozens of new locations and updated retail stores.

After her time in Retail, Sue made the choice to start a new career helping others. She studied for three years to become a Registered Nutritional Consultant Practitioner and began helping people find solutions to health problems through proper nutrition and life style changes. Sue also worked part time as a receptionist/office manager for a local Chiropractor, making connections and eventually opening an office in the same building to see her growing list of clients.

Sue also volunteered with Emergency Management BC, helping numerous people in the valley after evacuations during the fires that plagued us over the last decade and she was an avid supporter of the SPCA.
She enjoyed Hiking with her faithful dog and spirit animal, Ollie. Hunting, fishing, Snowshoeing and anything else in the great outdoors.

14 Months ago, Sue learned that she had a rare form of T-Cell Lymphoma, her oncologist was upfront about the fact that very little was known about the specific form she had and that they would try everything possible to help her beat it.

After the first round of Chemotherapy, things appeared to be better, however that was very short lived. Within weeks, the lymphoma had resurfaced in several places. A second round of Chemotherapy was the next logical step and that started right after Sue was tested as a Stem Cell transplant recipient. Unfortunately, Sue had a violent allergic reaction to the both of the drugs in the second round of Chemotherapy, which disqualified her from the Stem Cell Transplant procedure.

Knowing that she only had months left to live, Sue continued to work behind the scenes as an Office Manager and continued to help her clients via email and on-line services. Never willing to accept defeat, she pushed forward until the last. Finally, the cancer invaded her lungs and she was taken into hospital and told that she only had weeks left. Undeterred, she insisted on returning home with her oxygen so that she could continue to take care of things. Sue didn't understand the concept of quitting.

Through all of this, Sue insisted on taking care of her own affairs which she did an amazing job of, with only a few exceptions. At some point, she allowed her Life Insurance policy to lapse and despite making many notes on the subject, never completed her will. She was scheduled to meet with someone on Monday Nov 20th to complete her will, but as fate would have it, she didn't make that appointment.

Her husband, John, is now picking up the pieces, with help from Sue's brothers and parents, friends and co-workers, but the burden of settling her estate is now complicated and expensive. Without the funds that the insurance would have provided, this is tall task.
