Stu's Prosthetic & Medical Fund
Donation protected
On June 18th, Stu was admitted to St. Joe's Hospital with a complicated blood infection. His body became septic, and he required his gall bladder to be removed. From there, he developed further complications. His entire body swelled, and he went into partial renal failure. His white blood cell count was highly elevated. Both legs blistered from the knees down to the ankle, which required removal of the dead skin, some down to the bone. Gangreene set in, and his conditioned worsened. He was then transferred to the University of Michigan Hospital. Because of the gangreene gases built up in his calf, his right leg was amputated above the knee.
He spent a total of ten weeks in the hospital. He is now home on IV antibiotics and undergoes home OT and PT services, in addition to still receiving wound care for his left leg. However, his condition and spirits are quickly improving, and he is now in the processing of being measured for a prosthetic.
At this time, not only are we emotionally overwhelmed, but we are quickly becoming financially overwhelmed with medical bills and now attempting to obtain a prosthetic.
Any and all donations will be infinitely appreciated to help Stu get back on his feet after this traumatic time in his life!
