Student midwives running for NNU
Donation protected
On 15th July, 23 second year student midwives and their lecturers will be taking part in the Stoke-on-Trent Festival of Running to raise money for the Royal Stoke Neonatal Unit. Throughout our training we have seen first-hand the incredible work which happens on the unit and how technology assists the medical professionals in saving tiny lives. We hope to raise £2-3000 to buy new equipment for the unit in the hope that even more babies can be saved.
Midwifery training is intense, time-consuming and emotionally and physically draining. Running is for some fantastic stress relief and for others a real challenge and therefore we will be covering a range of distances between us, from 5km to half marathons to full marathons. No matter what distance being attempted you can be assured that it is a massive challenge to each individual to find the time and the energy to train, especially since have two placement blocks between now and the big day!
