Our goal is to raise $4500 in just 30 days to help fund the 2014 Stronger Than Steel book launch and art exhibit scheduled for May 17, 2014. The money raised will be used towards the printing of the 2014 Stronger Than Steel books and art production.
This project is community service based. The goal is to give more attention to the service and sacrifice of first responders. Any profit made from the sale of a book or art piece at this event will go in to the Stronger Than Steel account to help fund future first responder photo shoots.
This is an all or nothing capaign. So every dollar counts! If we raise more than our goal, it will enhance the show by allowing us to display more iconic images and print more books for the event. We know that when you choose to contribute it will be because you want to help us honor our brave!

Each year hundreds of first responders and military warriors pay the ultimate price while protecting our American communities. Stronger Than Steel, the art of first response, honors those men and woman who risk their lives to keep us safe from harms way.
Over the past three years, including 6,000 hours of dedicated photography and editing, Roni Ziemba has immersed herself in what's behind the yellow caution tape. "Watching behind the scenes as community guardians selflessly help others is inspiring," says Ziemba. "I have developed a true appreciation of their readiness and resilience, qualities that led me to title the show, "Stronger Than Steel." Her personal goal for the collection is to show the public the intense work it takes to do a job where lives are on the line. This ongoing pursuit is done as a community service to create art of our men and women in the line of duty and share their inspiring stories with the public. Stronger Than Steel is growing exponentially in support and scope since it's first two books and exhibits in 2011 and 2012. Due to this success 84 Stronger Than Steel fine art pieces are now permanently installed in Tucson public spaces, including the Tucson International Airport and University of Arizona Medical Center.
During the past three years we have relied upon corporate sponsorship for funding the book launch and art exhibit. But Stronger Than Steel is a project for the community, and now we look to our communities for support in financing this years Stronger Than Steel Collection.
The 2013/2014 Stronger Than Steel Collection book launch and art exhibit is scheduled for May 17, 2014. The Stronger Than Steel book is a high-gloss hard bound publication, showcasing over 15 local and federal agencies as well as the American Red Cross. On exhibit will be select premium larger than life first response photographs. These iconic images are printed on Kodak metallic paper, sandwiched between super plexi and museum mounted to float away from the wall in a very modern treatment.
At the 2014 event the Stronger Than Steel committee will also award several first responders the Stronger Than Steel / Heart of Gold Award to those individuals, or crews, who have performed an act of heroism in the line of duty or who have gone above and beyond in service to their community.
About Roni Ziemba:
Roni Ziemba has had a successful career in magazine editorial and fine art imagery. Roni Ziemba first sharpened her photographic eye as a printing apprentice in Los Angeles, working on the photos of such greats as Irving Penn, Sally Mann and Helmut Newton. From an initial career in magazine editorial, fashion, and portraiture photography, she later branched into fine art photography. Her work has been exhibited and sold in galleries throughout the western U.S., including the Museum of the Yellowstone in Wyoming and the Tucson Museum of Art.
Putting a human face to a crisis comes easily to Ziemba, as she has been in dangerous situations herself. After meeting with Udai Hussein in Baghdad, she and her companions were briefly held hostage in Baghdad on the eve of the first Gulf War. However, because of their efforts in Iraq 42 Japanese hostages were released and reunited with their families. Always in search of a great shot, Ziemba came under fire during riots in Belfast, Northern Ireland after photographing a military police enclave.
At the behest of Tucson's Heroes Day 2011, Ziemba rode "shot gun" on emergency calls to fires, hostage stand-offs, and surgical operating rooms to document first responders in service to their fellow citizens and to make art of it. Not an easy task with only six weeks to accomplish her goal. There can be no doubt, when you look at the images in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 / 2014 Collections, that she has found her artistic calling.
Currently a combined total of 118 Ziemba pieces of medical and first response fine art are permanently installed around Tucson, including the Tucson International Airport and The University of Arizona Medical Center. May 2014 will mark the third Stronger Than Steel art exhibit and book launch based upon her photography in the field with over 15 first response agencies.
