Dave’s Fight Against Cancer
In the blink of an eye, our dear friends Dave and Pam’s lives changed forever. In August 2024, Dave went to the ER for stomach pain, fatigue, and weight loss. Hours later, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon and liver cancer. That night, he was rushed to Hartford Hospital for urgent treatment, leaving Pam behind, unable to drive at night, watching him leave in an ambulance.
Since then, their lives have been a whirlwind of medical appointments, treatments, and challenges. Despite the devastating diagnosis, Dave’s courage, resilience, and positivity have been unwavering. After six rounds of chemotherapy, scans showed a 21% reduction in his cancer a glimmer of hope amidst the struggle. However, the journey is far from over. Dave has six more rounds of chemo ahead, with another scan planned to determine the next steps.
Pam’s Health Challenges
While supporting Dave, Pam has faced her own battle. Last Christmas Eve, she suffered an eye stroke, losing over 50% of her vision. Treatments to save her sight wiped out their savings, and the damage is permanent. Although Pam continues to teach part-time and run paint classes, it’s not enough to cover their mounting expenses.
The Financial Burden
Dave was their sole provider, and his disability benefits won’t start until March 2025. Between medical bills, daily expenses, and specialized care, they’re struggling to make ends meet. This campaign is their lifeline to keep their household running, get Dave the treatment he needs, and provide them with some relief during this overwhelming time.
About Dave and Pam
Dave and Pam are more than friends, they’re family to us. I met Dave in 1987 when I moved to California for work. We became instant friends, as did everyone lucky enough to meet him. A few days later, I met Pam, and the three of us have been inseparable ever since, even though we now live on opposite side of the of the country.
Dave and Pam are the kind of people who light up every room they enter. Dave was the best man at our wedding in 2004, and, true to form, he was the life of the party. Together, they inspire everyone around them with their joy, energy, and unconditional support. Now, it’s our turn to be there for them.
