Stronger Than The Curve
This girl, my daughter, is beautiful inside and out. Unfortunately, we found out 3 years ago (during a routine physical for sports) that she has scoliosis. She has been a power house since the diagnosis, and refuses to let it get her down. She’s highly active in cheerleading, basketball, golf, and track.
About 2 months ago she began to complain of pain. Each week it seemed her pain intensified, and yet she never let it defeat her. She continued with cheer and sports determined not to let the scoliosis win. Because of this we had her routine appointment moved up by 6 months. It was then we found out her spine has curved a total 11° since her original diagnosis (from 43° to 54°)putting her in the range that she needs surgical intervention to straighten it.
I am asking for help to cover gas, food, hotel costs during her week long hospital stay, and any medical equipment necessary to help her at home once her surgery is over. Any remaining balance will go towards hospital costs that insurance won’t cover.
No amount is too small. Please help if you can. Watching her now despite the extreme pain she’s in and pushing through it to do what she loves is awe-inspiring. Because she is much much stronger than the curve.
Surgery is scheduled for mid-January.
