Strawberry Milk - Film Production

Strawberry Milk is a story about a young girl, Macy, starting her period. Macy's support system only consists of her single father, Dale, who makes his best attempt to understand what she's going through.  

The intent behind this film is to explore the subtle dynamics of the father-daughter relationship. When words like "tampon", "menstruation", and "period" are all too uncomfortable to utter, how can a father still communicate the unconditional love he has for his daughter?

Kimberly Greenwell, the writer and director of the project, has over 7 years of film education and 5 years of work experience, which makes this more than an appropriate time for her to direct her first narrative short. 

The production of the project will take place in mid-January, and will be composed of a crew of University of Colorado Denver film and television majors. 

Funds raised for the project will be prioritized in the following order: 


Paying Talent (something that few film students do, but makes a huge difference in the professionalism that gets reflected back on our school, and on the crew as a whole) 

Catering and Craft Services (keeping cast and crew happy and fed is a MUST) 

Production Design (although we are being as thrifty as possible, many of the scenes still require out-of-pocket expenses in order to dress them well) 

Renting any equipment and supplies that are not available through the university 

Distribution (film festival submission fees are ridiculous, yo!) 


By supporting this film, you'll be supporting many of the underrepresented identities in the film industry - especially women. The majority of the above-the-line roles are filled by women. Our hope is that more female voices on the crew will make for a better story concerned with the female experience. 

If you're interested in the project, but can't donate money, there are so many other ways in which you can help. Whether it is volunteering on the crew, providing food or supplies, or even donating a special skill such as composing music for us or designing a logo  - we can utilizie your support in a variety of ways. Oh, and if you have a cousin who works for Playtex and they want to donate a few dozen boxes of feminine hygiene products to us - that wouldn't hurt, either.
