A Birth Center for St Peter, MN!

Erika Urban, CPM, LM has been providing midwifery care to women in the St Peter/Mankato area for the past 4 years.
It is my current goal and vision to create River Valley Birth Center, a free-standing birth center nestled in the Minnesota River Valley in St Peter, MN. This birth center will offer the comforts of home and the benefits of the midwifery model of care. It is important that women have as many options as possible when it comes to childbirth. This will simply bring one more option to the area. This will be the first free-standing birth center in all of Southern Minnesota!
To be completely honest and transparent, the financial aspect of expanding my business and taking on the overhead of a building is a big deal. We are just a middle-class family with 4 children. I have absolute faith that this is the right time and that it will work out beautifully, but having a bit of extra help for the down payment and costs of renovations would help this dream become a reality. Right now we are needing to come up with 10% of the project total as a down payment. That may not seem like much, but it is overwhelming. We also understand that asking for people to help us with a for-profit business venture may seem a little greedy, but for those of you who have seen our house and the cars we drive, you know that we are not independently wealthy people who spend frivolously.
We (my husband and I) have already made an offer on a property and that has been accepted! We are currently working on city zoning for the property and financing. Once we are able to get these things lined up, I will be able to begin working on the certification of the birth center. None of this is easy or fast, but I am patient while I gestate this business so it can be born at the right time.
I appreciate any and all support for this project!!
If we get the finances all squared away, there will be chances for people to donate in non-financial ways such as coming to a wallpaper-stripping/painting party!! Whoot whoot!!
