Storm relief for family with high needs kids

Donation protected
Hello! I am Linda and this is about my family and we could really use a little help. On September 30th of this year we had some really bad weather; strong winds  caused a very large tree spilt and fell onto the roof of our home. It caused damage to the roof and also the chimney. We are still unsure of the extent of damage past that yet as we cannot afford to have the proper people come and inspect and fix the damage. We have little to no resources to have the repairs done. We do not have a home owners policy to help cover the costs as the company we had cancelled our policy with very little notice and we have not been
able to replace it with an affordable alternative.

Our family is everything to me, my whole world (my husband, myself along with our four beautiful children-my mother in law lives with us and is a young 74, and unable to help in any way as she is disabled and has no income). I am a stay at home mom and full-time student so that our older two can have their
needs met. Both of my beautiful older girls (10 and 11) are special needs that we adopted when they were babies as a family placement (my older sister and her then boyfriend did drugs and were very abusive-the state took custody of the girls from them to protect them and we adopted them as soon as we were able to, we are the only family and stability they have ever known. Due to my sister’s poor
choices both girls have medical needs, behavioral concerns and lasting trauma from that time in their lives. Our oldest is followed by many specialists which include a cardiologist, a geneticist, a neurologist, counselors to name a few but there are many more. Our other special needs sweetheart is also followed
by specialists though her needs are more behavioral in nature. She struggles with attachment, fetal alcohol and often becomes frustrated and self-injurious with daily life and is unable to calm herself down at times). Our two younger children love and adore their older sisters and all four together make all of the day to day struggle worth it. They mean the world to us which is why we made the decision for me to stay home as their needs increased and we began to see them struggle more and more. While I am the parent at home my husband works for the town we live in, makes minimum wage so that he is able to be close to home to
also give support if its needed. He is also in school full time to be a paramedic, and is a part of two local fire departments as a volunteer to be involved in our community.
We love our community. Its is hard to ask for help but I am asking, for our children to have a safe home to be in. We are fast approaching winter and we live in Maine so it gets really cold and really snowy. A solid roof and working chimney (it is connected to our only heating source) are important to staying warm and safe in our home. Any and all money raised will go to repairs and making sure our home is able to be a safe home for our children. If we are lucky enough to get to or go past our goal anything else will also go to heating costs, weatherization and the kid’s wellbeing (new, warmer bedding and clothes). Since we are unsure how
much it will be to fix, we are hoping to get to at least $1,800. I know it is a lot to ask for-people work hard for their money and it would not be wasted. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
