Mother & Son Cancer Love Pot

It's time for a new hashtag.  #RushfordStrong
Now, both Storm and Julieta of the beloved Rushford Family are battling cancer.

**Please note - we are running an online auction on Facebook - from October 24th to Sunday the 27th at 3 pm.  Please invite your friends, rsvp and share this event far and wide: https://www.facebook.com/events/531478000756016/**

For most of us it's unthinkable to have 1 family member battling cancer.  And in this case, it's 2. Julieta, Matt and Storm are truly the epitome of people who live through love every single day and through every single act. Please join me in continuing to support this beautiful family when they need it the most.

Storm, age 17, has been facing the challenges of Leukemia for over 2 years. He's suffered  hemi-paralysis due to a brain lesion caused by one of the chemotherapy drugs, anaphylactic shock that required 3 Epi-pens in a row and landed him in the ICU for days, pulmonary failure where he needed a respirator for weeks just to keep him alive, kidney stones, fractured hand, just to name a few,  and still has one more year of daily treatments ahead of him- and through all of this he has kept the most amazing spirit. He has continued with school, volleyball, baseball and recently completed a triathlon.  Yes, a triathlon.

Now that Storm is in his senior year of high school, he is looking forward to college.   And he LOVES baseball!  He has played in little league since he started elementary school and helped his team win District and State Championships twice with his contribution as pitcher and short stop player. His dream is to play college baseball.  And to travel to colleges and the coaches who are already interested in Storm and his skills - this takes money.

Julieta was recently diagnosed with stage 2 cancer. The treatments and costs of those treatments are currently unclear.  But it is clear that she will need time off to heal.  Her Puerto Rican family lives far from her home in Vermont.  She will need a  supportive community.  Just as Storm, she is facing this with extreme grace.  In her words: "Thank you again for keeping me close. It means more than you know."

The money from this campaign will help cover the costs of traveling to colleges for Storm to determine where to continue his baseball career and education.
It will also help to cover time off from work for the Rushford Family - so that as they continue treatments for Storm and start them for Julieta - they can spend this important time together and to not be stressed about money. And also possible treatment costs as it is unclear how much insurance will cover of the needed treatment.

This family has touched the lives of so many others not only through their healing work but also through the beautiful beings that they all are. Their impact has certainly sent ripples of love and connection and health through not only our local community but the global world as a whole.

Please give what you can. And know that every dollar helps! And please share this campaign far and wide so that we can provide this much needed support to these amazing people.
