Stories on the Streets Historic Signs

History brought to life!
Join the Hillsboro Historical Society and the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership in sharing the colorful stories behind our town's early champions:
Orange Phelps - Oldest of the original theater men, semi-pro baseball catcher, and Hillsboro mayor.
Emma McKinney - Widowed mother turned newspaperwoman; namesake of one of two national newspaper awards.
Dr. F.A. Bailey - Pioneer doctor so dedicated to his patients that he would build rafts during flood season to get to them.
These stories and 20 others will be brought to life with black papercut sillouhette art on white porcelain ovals. The signs will be hung on the buildings of Main Street where they took place so long ago.
Your donation will go directly to the manufacturing of these signs and the development of the corresponding webpage that gives visitors the opportunity to dig deeper into the history behind the story.
Help us bring awareness to the rich heritage of our town and to powerful bonds of community stretching back over 150 years!
