Stoma Awareness
Hello...can you help us?
We are the Stoma Squad otherwise known as Jody, Catherine, Elizabeth,Anna,Jan, Kayleigh, Jeanette, Casey, Gaynor and Emily.
We are on a mission to raise awareness of stomas and raise much needed funding for colostomy uk.
People may have a stoma for many reasons. MS, IBD, Cancer and trauma are just a few to mention. People of all ages from babies to elderly may need a stoma....they may be part of a planned surgery or be undertaken in an emergency which has proved to be life saving.
They aren't all sparkles and rainbows, but they are real life savers.
Since having our stomas we have come to realise how much stigma is around them, how many people hate them and beleive their life has ended because they have a bag, when in reality, they give you a new beginning.
But the Stoma Squad are trying to change that! We have come together from different parts of the UK to unite and break the stigma!
We want people to see the beauty in their bodies, regardless of stretch marks, scars or stomas! We want to empower others. If we can change the perception of having a stoma for just one person, we will be happy! We're all beautiful badass warriors!! We just poop different!
To raise awareness the Stoma Squad will be coming together from around the uk on 30th November to undertake a photo shoot showing our stoma bags out for the world to see!
We have had such a great response already - you'll be surprised what a bunch of women who support each other can achieve!
Please join in and support us in our challenge.
We would be grateful for your donations to Colostomy UK
With many thanks
