Stolen Travel Bike in Florida, USA

Donation protected
Hey folks,

my name is Romina and I live in Germany.

In April 2021 I started a bike tour around the world with my husband Stefan. We quite our jobs. We sold everything we had, to cycle and explore the world by bicycle.
Our aim is to bike to Australia, where Stefans brothers live.

After 19.000 km in Europe we just arrived from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, FL by ship.
The plan is to cycle the Eastern States in 6 months before crossing Canada.

But last week my bike got stolen from our Hosts backyard in Fort Lauderdale. We called the police, checked the pawn shops. We check the online markets... It's gone.

It was a special Pinion Gearbox bike, expensive and very rear in the US.
With this bike the thefts stole also the framebag with brand new tent poles and every accessories like speedometer, bottle cages etc. etc. Gosh, and I had all 19 stickers of all the countries we visited, including Northcape (most northern point of Europe, without islands)

We are stuck for now but we will not let this stop us from our travel plans. That's why we will order a new Pinion bike from Europe and buy all the things we need.

Your donations are needed for the shipping costs, probably for the customs and all the small parts which are gone with the bike.

We had an insurance on the bicycle itself and they will cover the costs for the bike - I hope they will.

Thank you very much, in advance, for your help!!
Everyone and every donation count and you will make it possible that we can go on with our dream of cycling the world.

THANK YOU.
We wish you a happy thanksgiving.
Romina and Stefan

  • Why don't you buy a bike in the States?
  • Well, because the Pinion bikes they have are much more expensive than the one I had from Switzerland including all shipping costs and customs.

  • You can buy a random bike and go on traveling.
  • Probably yes, but we don't want to. There are several reasons. We will need tools and spare parts for boths bikes when I buy e.g. a Priority Bike. And we have limited space and weight. And I know how to fix things on that bike. I have no clue how to fix a chaine or a normal shifting system, to be honest.
