Donation protected
The tragedy of June 15th that befell the Stockdale family has affected all of us.  Between the funeral and memorial costs, along with the medical and related expenses for Jacob, the financial burden will be great. In the spirit of bearing one another's burdens [Galations 6:2], if you feel led to participate, a gift of any amount would be appreciated. This site does take a small portion in fees, so if you prefer that 100% of your gift go to the family, you may send contributions to Zion Reformed Church [PO Box 33, Winesburg OH 44690] with your donation designated for the Stockdale Memorial Fund.  Thank you.

Press Release: Stockdale Family Shares Details Regarding Family Tragedy
For Immediate Release: June 16, 2017

Cleveland, OH - Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:36pm the Stark County Sheriff's Department responded to a hang-up 911 call from the Stockdale family residence landline. Jacob Stockdale, 25, shot himself upon the arrival of sheriff deputies. The deputies discovered Kathryn Stockdale, 54, and James Stockdale, 21, dead at the scene.

Jacob Stockdale was transported by ambulance to Aultman Hospital and life-flighted to a Cleveland hospital.

Sheriff George Maier hosted a brief press conference at approximately 10:00am Friday morning confirming previously reported details of the investigation.

Sheriff Maier said in the department's press conference:

"This is a tragedy for the family. It is a tragedy for the community."

Late Friday morning Timothy Stockdale, father and husband of the family, issued the following statement regarding his late wife, Kathy Stockdale:

"Kathy has been my beloved wife of 32 years and a wonderful mother to our four sons. She loved nothing more than being a mother and grandmother. She had a strong love of learning and was passionate about her Christian faith, natural health, and organic farming.”

Late Friday morning Calvin Stockdale, the eldest brother of the family, issued the following statement regarding his late brother, James Stockdale:

"James, our youngest brother, has always been a catalyst of family fun. Aside from being a gifted musician, James enjoyed dancing and had an innate love of people. James was working on a business degree and hope to go into the business side of entertainment. He leaves behind many friends and a family that love him dearly.”

"My brother, Jacob, is still in critical condition and we are praying for his physical recovery as our family makes funeral plans and begins the healing process."

Jacob Stockdale's condition has stabilized but is still listed as critical.

[Previously Released]

Early Friday morning Calvin Stockdale, the eldest brother of James and Jacob, issued the following statement:

"My family appreciates the prayers and support we are receiving from our friends and the community. We are mourning the loss of my brother and mother and are waiting to learn more about what transpired yesterday afternoon. We thank Sheriff Maier and his staff for their help through this difficult day as well as the staff at both hospitals.

"While we don't understand, and may never understand, why this happened, we want everyone, and especially Jacob, to know that we love and forgive him."

"While support is appreciated, we ask for privacy while our family deals with this tragic loss."
