Stir Scholarship Fund

A healthy community is built on perspectives originating from people of different genders, ethnicities, and walks of life.  With this principle we have formed an organization dedicated to fostering gender diversity within the IT community.  Specifically, we want to embolden high school aged young women to consider a career in software development. 

By forming this scholarship fund, we anticipate opening doors for young women that had not previously considered a career in software development.  Our culture has historically genderized certain fields such as nursing and software development.  By sparking a new conversation, we expect to bring new options to light for everyone.


Details:

Eligibility & Qualifications:
Applicants must be:
          * High school senior
          * Female
          * Interested in software development / programming career after college
          * Living in Central Ohio

Financial status, grade point, and test scores are not taken into consideration for this scholarship.

Fund Use:
Scholarships will be sent directly to the university of the student's choice to be used for educational expenses.  While the student must live in Central Ohio, the university does not have to be located in Central Ohio. 
Limitations:
          * Accredited university
          * Major must be computer science or similar

Scholarship Size & Quantity:
While the amount of each scholarship isn't determined, we foresee the amount to be impactful to the student.  As the fund continues to grow, the size and quantity of scholarships will grow with it.

Fund Sources:
Stir Scholarship Fund raises money from corporate sponsors, other non-profits, and individuals.  It is with your generosity that we can impact young women's lives and dramatically transform the IT community.
