Stevenson Family fundraiser: No One Fights Alone!!

Hi, my name is Amy Miller, and I'm hoping to raise money to help support one of my most generous and loving friends and her family.

 

Julius, their 10 year old son, has a rare form of luekemia called Chronic Mylegenous Leukemia (CML) which occurs when your bone marrow makes too many myeloid white blood cells. CML is slow-growing. The average age at diagnosis is 64 years old, and about half of the cases are found in people 65 years and older. Julius was diagnosed at two years old.

  

Julius' family has dealt with his diagnosis' emotional, financial, and physical struggles for the past eight years. While they've had some low lows, they have always chosen to focus on the highs and relationships they've gained! The Stevenson family models optimism, courage and kindness while on this journey no one would ever imagine for themselves. Julius and his family spread joy and kindness daily, despite what they have going on in the background.

Because of the support of others, they were able to replace the furnace and water filtration system in their house to ensure it was safe for Julius as he healed from his bone marrow transplant and beyond. This also helped to keep Simone (his doner) healthy as well as Angie and Ian healthy as they all spent long hours at home, away from friends and family while Julius' immune system regained its strength. His transplant was a success!!

Unfortunately, the stress of the financial struggle continues as the family works daily to maintain their sanity through the ups and downs of healing. As you can imagine, the cost of gas for going back and forth for hospital and emergency room visits, groceries and take-out food and other unforeseen costs and continue.

Ian has made the brave choice to become a stay-at-home-artist-dad and take care of Julius and home-school him until he's strong enough to go back to school. Their income has been cut in half but they continue to focus on all that they do have!!

All in all, they are continuing to regain a sense of normalcy but the bills are piling up.
