Raise Funds For Steve Admire
We need help to change a life! Over the years our family has gifted and granted thousands of hours, dollars, and connections to our men and women of the military, young adults, and families. Our motto has always been #FILO4You. Today I need to ask my friends and family to be “First In and Last Out” (FILO) for my good friend Steve Admire.
Steve has been an inspirational part of our team and a very dedicated and hardworking employee. He helps out The Base Jiu Jitsu, ThisisBoise.com, and Tovuti continually! Steve was born deaf and with special abilities that limit people from seeing just how great he really is. Steve is high functioning and even drives a car. When I first met Steve he was living in a metal shelter right outside of Caldwell. Steve didn’t have running water or heat and nor did he have a bathroom. Regardless of his poor living situation, he always always smiled and shared a laugh with us.
Our first step was to find him housing, clean clothes, and a job. It’s amazing what happens to a man when you give him a little purpose and a chance at proving himself. After finding him temporary housing and purchasing some new clothes, I reached out to Professor Ben from The Base Jiu Jitsu. The Base, along with Tovuti and ThisisBoise.com, share a building space offered Steve a part time cleaning position that would allow him to interact and help out two nights a week. What a difference that has made! He’s cleaned up, working with a purpose and his smile says it all!
That is until a few weeks ago. Steve has three fully broken teeth that are opened with nerves fully exposed. His smile is being taken over from the pain throughout his mouth and his energy is being drained away. We have taken him to the dentist and performed his first ever teeth cleaning and x-rays to see just how bad it is. Based on what the dentist can tell, the broken teeth have gone untreated for months, if not years. Because of Steve’s limited background, older age and lack of resources, he has been without proper care and treatment for at least twenty years. The cost for these immediate repairs is estimated to be $5,000, which would cover his dental surgery, recovery time, and follow up.
This is where I am asking my team at The Base, my community of leaders and my family to be #FILO4Steve. Please, help us bring Steve’s smile back!
