Stern PPE Drive for NYU Langone Hospitals

Our beloved home of New York City has been forced to lead the battle against COVID-19, and as of April 16th, the number of total confirmed cases in NYC is over 118,000. The healthcare workers fighting in the front line on our behalf have not had adequate protection due to the shortage of PPE, particularly disposable hospital gowns. Many of us in the NYU Stern community have already made individual contributions during this crisis, but if we can join forces through a targeted COVID-19 relief strategy, then we can realize an even larger impact.
We decided waiting was not an option and the time to act is NOW!
- What is the purpose of this fundraiser?
On behalf of the entire Stern community, Asian Business Society (ABS) is leading a fundraising effort to help source and deliver disposable gowns to our sister hospital, NYU Langone Hospital. Disposable hospital gowns are the second most used PPE after disposable gloves, but are significantly harder to source here in the United States. Having identified this gap, we plan on leveraging our club member’s personal connections in China to help bridge legitimate, medical standard gown manufacturers with the NYU Langone hospitals in a cost-effective manner. Your donation will ensure that Langone essential hospital workers will be properly protected while they care for patients.
- We want to be transparent in our fundraiser with concrete points of contact and prices:
Once we finalize the manufacturer and prices for hospital gowns, we will post real-time updates here in the fundraiser. Our goal is to import these gowns as soon as possible so they can start arriving at our hospitals over the next few weeks. We will be updating everyone on the status of these gowns via email as we continue to make progress. If there are any leftover monetary donations, we will donate these directly to the hospital.
In the event that we do not believe we can source hospital gowns at a more cost-effective rate than the hospitals can, we will provide NYU Langone with all the donations raised and our manufacturer’s information so that they may procure it themselves. NO SALARY WILL BE DRAWN AT ANY TIME FROM THIS FUND AND 100% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL BE USED FOR OR BY THE NYU LANGONE HOSPITAL.
