Stephen Scroggs Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Stephen has been  employed by Fitesa Simpsonville since early October, 2018.  This was an exciting time for his family as Stephen's girlfriend Autumn was four months pregnant; adding a new baby to their family of four with the boys looking forward to becoming big brothers.

Autumn was employed as Assistant Manager at One Main Financial and the future was looking bright  until she was forced to  take an early maternity leave due to complications. As it turns out, the doctors discovered  baby Christopher had some kidney issues causing  Autumn to be confined to  bed rest until her due date.

On Saturday Feb 9th 2019, Stephen and Autumn were visiting friends when  an unexpected  incident completely changed their lives. Steven, otherwise healthy, hardworking and active suddenly fainted causing him to fall down a set of stairs breaking his left ankle.

Initially he was told he had  a small break and could return to work. Upon a second opinion from Greenville Health System, Greenville, SC, it became apparent that there was much more than initially diagnosed and his return to work would be much further delayed.

Upon arriving at the hospital Stephen’s heart rate was over 180. The doctors  were no longer concerned about the his left ankle but now concerned that Stephen, only 34 years old may suffer a heart attack.   Both Stephen and Autumn were in disbelief at how something as common as an ankle injury could take a sudden  turn for the worse into something as serious and debilitating as a heart attack.  They were scared at the potential need for a surgery to correct the top chamber of his heart.  After an ankle surgery and a few different medications, the doctors were able to get his heart rate stabilized. With this good news came the reality that Stephen would now face a six week recovery for his ankle, ongoing heart medication and a heart monitor. Currently, Stephen is recovering in the hospital.

Up until now, Stephen has been the primary source of income for his family, especially since Autumn has been on bed rest. With that being said, this has created an extreme financial hardship on their growing family with bills continuing to mount while he is unable to return to work. Although they remain in good spirits, and are looking forward to Stephen's return home soon to continue recovering, the real world has brought with it some uncertainty.
The inability to earn income coupled with surmounting medical bills in addition to living expenses have presented some challenges for the growing family.

We are asking for your help in assisting this loving and deserving family during this difficult time. Any amount of assistance you can provide would go a long way in helping them maintain their household. It is our sincerest hope to raise $10,000 for them.
