Attending PlantFolk Herbalism Program is my first step towards a new career.
Before the pandemic, I was resolved to end my 12 years as a full-time Homeschool Mom to 3 kids and begin the process of going to Nursing School to pursue a career in mental health. While holistic psychiatric mental health is my end goal, the timetable has stretched as I will be a full-time Homeschool Mom a year or two longer than I anticipated due to the pandemic. In the meantime, an opportunity to increase my knowledge in Herbalism has presented itself.
I'd like to attend PlantFolk Herbalism Program offered by High Garden and Leah Larabell. I find Leah to be extremely experienced in the world of Herbalism and it would be an honor to study with her. The program is local to where I live (in Nashville, TN) and the only expense I seek funding for is the educational program itself. I'm hoping to raise the full amount of $1500.
I personally have benefited from the guidance of knowledgeable mental health professionals familiar with the effects of herbs to support the whole person. My hope is to broaden and deepen what I already know about herbs, one day enroll full-time as a Nursing Student and continue in a Health Coaching program offered by the same university. I would like to offer unique mental health services tailored to the individual and I believe having a strong background in Herbalism would be valuable. The course introductions to botany, materia medica, phytochemistry, working with herbs within each body system (digestive, respiratory, etc.), and being part of an herbal community will be invaluable as I move toward practicing as a Nurse Practitioner in the mental health field.
