STEPHANIES FIGHT TO SURVIVE RARE CANCER

My neice Stephanie Thomson is a 34 year old single mum who was diagnosed with cancer september 2022.

Unfortunately the cancer she was diagnosed with is an extremely rare agressive cancer called extrarenal rhabdoid tumor which is a paediatric cancer usually found in a childs kidneys with poor prognosis. Stephanie is 1 of 24 adults world wide to have ever been diagnosed with this making the odds 1 in 335 million!

As there is no standard treatment for this cancer and very little information or research into it or funds given to it , a sarcoma specialist at the beatson in glasgow offered his help to try his best to treat & stephanie was started on the most invasive inpatient chemotherapy you can get VDC/IE..... stephanie had this for 11 months. She also endured major life changing surgery january 2023 where surgeons removed 2 large stomach muscles, pubic bone, part of pelvis bone and then removed vatis lateral muscle from her thigh to put into stomach to reconstruct abdominal wall.

Followed this was 6 weeks daily radiotherapy and more chemotherapy.

In july 2023 stephanie finished chemotherapy & shortly after it was found that unfortunately a nodule had appeared on her right lung, stephanie was operated on in october 18th 2023 to have part of her lung removed with success and clean margins. Stephanie rang the bell

7 weeks later she went for a check up and had a chest x ray where a large mass was found, an urgent ct scan was performed and unfortunately it was confirmed the cancer was back with avengence, in her lung her lymph nodes and chest cavity.

Unfortunately we have now been told its incureable and only treatments offered will be to slow the spread and be referred to clinical trials.

This has grown so much in only 7 weeks and so time is now of essence and against us and after much research we have found that alternative medicines are the route to go down to try and save out stephanies life which come at a very high cost .

we are doing everything we can to find help to save our Stephanie's life.

Stephanie has already been giving some alternative medicine a few days supply , this is very expensive to upkeep and is needed in large quantities . We have also got many contacts who we can go for 2nd opinions now privately including the royal marsden in london and in order to do this we are reaching out for help to get our girl the best help we possibly can aswell as making memories with her son. Stephanie has been told on 11th january there is a now a 4cm tumour in her brain also.

Update May 10th ..... Stephanie now haa 2 brain tumors & is taking focal seizures , pallatiave radiotherapy was offered to the brain 5 days worth howevee it would come with nasty side effects & damage..... & would also put chemotherapy for the lung on hold... which isn't really an option as all lung tumors arw growing outside the field that was radiated.

Stephanie's tumors seem to be radio sensitive as the 5days lung radio showed size reduction & the 5 days radio to first brain met showed more than half the size reduction..... however only palliative radio is being offered for Stephanie & its only when symptoms arise that are unmanageable. We are looking into private radiotherapy for the lung at a kill dose which the nhs will not offer.
