STEM to the Future's Pilot!

Spende geschützt
Currently, Black and Latinx students are severely underrepresented in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) majors and STEM jobs. We believe this gap is in part due to a lack of access to a curriculum that develops skills necessary for this 21st century digital age and lack of exposure to skills such as coding, programming, and design thinking. Without intervention, underserved students will continue to be underrepresented and denied access to these lucrative and influential opportunities within STEM.

STEM to the Future is a Los Angeles based organization that uses after-school programs designed to equip underserved kindergarten through fifth grade students in South LA with the technical and interpersonal skills, and mindsets necessary to be successful in the 21st century digital age. Our programming utilizes coding, programming, engineering, robotics, mentors and project-based learning experiences that foster problem solving, computational skills, and collaboration. As young as age 5, we want to build students skill set and confidence so that they begin to identify as coders, creative thinkers, programmers, problem solvers, engineers, or scientists.

STEM to the Future, was created by Jacob Adams and Bentley Kapten who have combined over 11 years of experience in education in both New York City and Los Angeles. We are asking for donations to help us fund our first pilot at Inglewood Elementary School. All donations will be used to purchase material costs for our pilot, securing our LLC, and offering professional development for our staff.

We are fortunate enough to be partnering with Inglewood Elementary School to kickoff our program. Our pilot, “Planting the Seed,” includes eight weeks worth of programming and will be an amazing opportunity for us to teach kindergarteners and first grades how to code, program, introduce them to STEM professionals, and conduct engaging STEM project-based learning lessons. Throughout our pilot we will be collecting data to see how students are using problem solving, computation, and interpersonal skills throughout our after school programming.

We would love to stay connected and share exciting updates about STEM to the Future, including our pilot with Inglewood Elementary! Subscribe to the STEM to the Future Mailing List by leaving your name and email.

*Please note that all donations will not be tax-deductible as we are still securing our LLC*
