My name is Okenyuri Gertrude, I live in Canada. This story breaks my heart, and is the reason why I’m asking for your help to safe “a little angel’s” life. My niece Lilian Anari is a new mother that lives in Kenya. Like any new mother, Lillian’s expectations of walking home with a bundle of joy have been shuttered by her baby’s illness. Baby Stella now two months old, started to show signs of shortness of breath a few weeks after birth. After several trips to Kisii General Hospital, Stella was referred to Kenyatta Hospital for further assessments. While at Kenyatta National Hospital, Stella’s doctors determined that her issue is significant and the only available option to fix it is through surgery. Baby Stella was diagnosed with tetralogy of fallot, a condition that can only be managed outside Kenya due to lack of facilities and expertise. Thus, baby Stella has been referred to a hospital in India for an open-heart surgery. The cost of this treatment is beyond baby Stella’s parents, Lilian and Josephat, means. The latest echocardiogram on baby Stella shows that her condition is worsening and the sooner the money is available, the sooner we can help safe this little angel’s life before more complications arise. I’m sure you can understand that Lilian and Josephat will leave no stone unturned and we need to do whatever it takes to keep baby Stella here with us and healthy.
