Stella Woodrum is a certified interpreter for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She is an independent contractor and travels the immense state of Montana providing access to communication and language for people with hearing loss. On November 17, 2016, Stella was interpreting an educational training presented by a person with Deafblindness, for an audience of parents and providers working with children with Deafblindness. She suffered a cerebral aneurysm and was rushed to the ICU. Of all the things to go awry, there are no preventativee measures to plan for a 40 year-old to have a cerebral aneuryism? After spending some quality time in the hospital, she was released to go home for Thanksgiving. Stella is having to spend time rehabilitating and letting her brain heal. She is not able to work at this time like she expected to and like she wants t, especially during the holiday season... Unfortunately, independent contractors do not have sick leave or vacation time. There have been inquiries to make donations toward her medical expenses, lost wages and truck repairs (of course, the family truck broke down that night). Stella is the mother to two young kids, and four step-children.
