Steel City Trophy 2020

Donation protected
The Sheffield Synchronized Skating Academy is a not-for-profit amateur sports club. Its coaches, members and volunteers have created an international skating event, the Steel City Trophy, which is now in its second year.

The competition has attracted 75 teams from 11 countries in 2020, and is being held at iceSheffield, an Olympic standard skating rink in South Yorkshire, GBR, from 7th to 9th March 2020.

The costs of hosting such a competition are high, with 1,215 skaters taking part over 3 days. One of the most expensive items in our budget is the cost of filming and live streaming the competition around the world, which is what our GoFundMe campaign is to be used to pay for.

It is important to film and stream the Steel City Trophy competition, for many reasons. As an ISU and Club International competition, our competitors have left friends and family at home who wish to support them remotely. In addition, our sport is gaining popularity around the world and we hope it will be included in the Winter Olympic Games in 2026. Synchronized skating is a highly skilled discipline of ice skating, and raising its profile is critical to the future success of our sport, so the live stream and subsequent YouTube views will help with this objective.

If every viewer donated just a small amount, it would help to fund this important cost and ensure the competition can break even.

Thank you in advance!
