Femke heeft sinds haar geboorte een zware vorm van epilepsie.
Hierdoor heeft ze helaas nooit kunnen stappen.
Nu met deze nieuwe techniek zou ze dit op termijn kunnen leren.
Het leren lopen zou een positieve invloed op heel andere facetten van haar leven (zoals stoelgang, bloedsomloop, knieën, rug, …)
Helaas is dit een heel dure behandeling (hier is helaas ook geen tussenkomst van het ziekenfonds voor), maar na enkele testen (zoals je kan zien op de video, is het verschil al merkbaar bij Femke).
Ze is super gemotiveerd en zou dit 2x per week willen doen (wat volgens de dokters ook het ideale is).
Per maand komt dit (enkel deze behandeling) neer op een kost van 800,00 Euro buiten al haar andere medische kosten.
Deze behandeling kan enkel plaats vinden in Antwerpen, dus voor ons toch aardig eindje rijden elke keer (vanuit Aalst). Maar dit hebben we helemaal voor over!!!
De behandeling heeft een duurtijd van minstens 3 jaar!

Femke has had a severe form of epilepsy since birth.
Because of this she has unfortunately never been able to walk.
Now with this new technique she could learn this in the long term.
Learning to walk would have a positive impact on very different facets of her life (such as bowel movements, circulation, knees, back,…)
Unfortunately this is a very expensive treatment (unfortunately there is no intervention from the health insurance fund for this), but after a few tests (as you can see on the video, the difference is already noticeable at Femke).
She is super motivated and would like to do this twice a week (which is also ideal according to the doctors).
Per month this (only this treatment) amounts to a cost of 800 Euro in addition to all her other medical costs.
This treatment can only take place in Antwerp, so for us it is quite a drive every time (from Aalst). But we are completely prepared for this !!!
The treatment has a duration of at least 3 years!
