Stanley’s Surgery Complications

We adopted Stanley on October 10, 2020. He has been a ray of sunshine over the past month. (The same night we brought him home, my grandfather passed away from cancer.)

We were fully expecting to have expenses when adopting him. He needed updated vaccinations, and needed to be neutered. His first exam went really well, he was healthy based on all the typical tests done by a vet. 

Yesterday was his surgery. We’re not 100% sure what happened, but he has had some complications. He’s been unable to keep any food or water down. We brought him back to the vet, and he’s had an exam, blood work, x-rays, and therapeutic treatments done too try to figure out why this is happening. So far, we don’t have any answers. The vet is leaning towards the possibility of a hypersensitivity to the drug buprenorphine, which is a common drug used to manage pain for surgeries. This is very rare. 

Normally, these expenses would be much more manageable. However, on October 29, I was in a car accident with a semi. The costs associated with that accident are making these surgery complications more of a financial hardship.

That being said, I’m still able to cover some of these costs on my own. I am able to cover $1,500 of the vet bills at this moment. Any donations here goes towards the costs that were occurred beyond that amount. We are still taking everything as it comes and I will update when we know how much more treatment he may need.
