HOW SITTING, PLAYING COMPUTER GAMES, TOOK OUR SON'S LIFE.

StandUpForLouis is a campaign set up in order to inform and educate people of all ages and fitness levels of the risks and consequences of developing DVT, the possible causes and symptoms and when to seek help, in the hope we prevent another tragic story like Louis’. This campaign is also a new journey for Louis and we are committed to doing good in his name.

Louis developed DVT from sitting and playing computer games for hours and hours during the first UK lockdown. He was a fit and healthy young man who also visited the gym after work. Furloughed, with nothing to do and worried about going out after we were all told to stay indoors... he found comfort in his gaming, chatting to mates and re-gaining his freedom in a virtual world.

He developed DVT and we had no idea. We all thought he had pulled something in his leg and simply nagged him to go out and get some exercise. Then one evening suddenly the most awful thing happened and we lost our boy.

What happened to Louis is devastating - it is also not unique, it is not the first time this has happened and it won't be the last.

We need ongoing funding to help raise awareness; to help pay for merchandise to give away, to help pay for leaflets and posters for offices, schools, colleges, sports organisations and much more. Also to help finance future school and college visits to inform and work with youngsters.
