Standing Strong: Zain’s DIPG Battle Fund!

Dear Friends and Family and Haters of Cancer,

Brandy and Abdoul's journey was one of resilience and joy as they navigated the challenges of fertility, finally welcoming their beloved children Zain and Ayisha into the world. Life seemed perfect with their beautiful family complete - a son and a daughter, running, playing, and cherishing every moment together.

However, their world was turned upside down in the blink of an eye. Just days after a joyous Easter celebration in 2024, Zain's health took a drastic turn. What started as subtle changes in behavior and mobility quickly escalated into a parent's worst nightmare. A trip to the doctor led to the devastating diagnosis of DIPG, an inoperable tumor nestled at the base of Zain's brain stem.

In the span of a weekend, their vibrant, happy child went from preschooler to patient, robbed of his ability to walk, speak clearly, or even swallow. The prognosis is bleak - doctors have given them the heartbreaking news that Zain may have only 6 to 12 months to live.

Brandy, the youngest daughter of Deb and Leonard Shreck and granddaughter of Marleen Herbolsheimer, now faces the daunting task of resigning from her job to become Zain's full-time caregiver. As their family adjusts to this new reality, the financial strain of medical expenses looms large. With no plans in place for the unthinkable, funeral expenses for their beloved 5-year-old are an additional burden they never anticipated.
