Stand by Dave Meyers-Medical Fund

Dave Meyers - to know him is to love him. He's got a heart of gold and has given so much to his friends and family through the years.

On July 6, Dave suffered a massive stroke. The family was called to his bedside to say goodbye. But in true Dave Meyers fashion, he fought. You see, Dave has a lot to live for with a wife, triplet ten-year-old girls and a fifteen year old son at home, three grown children, and nine grandchildren. Suffering from a vasilar stroke that severly impacted the pons in his brain stem, Dave was left paralyzed from the nose down and fully cognitively aware - the doctors call this "Locked In Syndrome".

This very rare syndrome left Dave with the ability to communicate with his eyes only. Still, Dave fought! He has been able to smile, minimally move his hands and feet, and continually gain back more motor functions than any of his doctors originally thought. Now there's hope for Dave with proper neurological rehab. Unfortunately, Dave's insurance is very limiting.

This is where you can help! Dave has been making improvements and was recently accepted at MedStar in Washington D.C. for intense neurological rehabilitation. This rehab is vital for his long-term quality of life. Transportation from Florida to D.C. and back are not covered by insurance, while the copays and expenses have continued to build up.  In addition, Dave will be hundreds of miles away from all of the family and friends that love and support him so dearly. Travel expenses for the family, transportation for Dave, and assistance in getting Dave the right care is needed.
