Emergency Aid: Help Afghan women and children

Tax deductible
The people of Afghanistan face a precarious future. The abrupt withdrawal of the U.S. and the Taliban’s rapid takeover have left a humanitarian disaster in their wake. Today, those who have most to fear – Afghanistan’s women and girls – are fighting for their lives.

Central Asia Institute (CAI) has worked in Afghanistan the last 20 years, providing education and opportunity to women and girls across the country. Now, CAI is actively working with our partners on the ground to meet the most critical needs of the people who have been displaced by conflict. Many of them lack food, water, shelter, and healthcare. The needs right now are immense. And so is what's at stake.

For displaced children, who make up nearly 60% of those forced to flee, the trauma of life in a conflict zone is severe. Exposure to violence and lack of sufficient food, water, and shelter impact them more quickly and deeply than adults. A tarp over their heads, a warm, dry place to sleep, and small things like blankets, books, and toys offer comfort and familiarity amidst complete chaos.

To support displaced families, Central Asia Institute is working to provide basic living essentials as well as much-needed supplies for children – to lighten their spirits in a time of despair.
