Stairlift & medical aids for Tibor who has GBM4

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Krisztina and I am fundraising for my husband who is 53 years old, and the father of our three daughters. He has GBM4 brain cancer. A few months ago his movement became impaired due to the side effects of radiotherapy. We had to radically change and remodel our home to adapt to this and to maintain a normal living space. We are currently saving up for a stairlift, which for our home, is priced £5,900. However, due to our financial situation, this is proving to be very difficult.
Tibor used to work as a bus driver, as well as a volunteer at the National Coastwatch as a watchkeeper. He used to love cycling and running, and tried to live a healthy life. Two years ago however, his life took a 180 turn when one morning he collapsed and was taken to the hospital. Not long after, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme cancer, which is the most aggressive form of brain cancer (according to statistics, life expectancy is around 14-18 months when it's treated - without treatment it’s only a few months). Unfortunately, the tumour cannot be operated on, and it spreads behind the visual cortex, which affects his peripheral vision. Because of this, he lost his job and his volunteer role, can never drive again, cannot cycle and run, even going for a walk is only possible with help. After the radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, MRI results showed that the tumour had shrunk, and after a few months it did not grow, which was good news. At the same time however, Tibor’s left hand started showing symptoms similar to that of carpal tunnel syndrome (he is left handed). He could no longer use his hand, write or use cutlery, every touch was painful, then movement in his left leg also weakened, and in the last three months his full mobility became impaired. The neurologist said it might be brain damage, which could be a side effect of radiotherapy. Today, he is in a wheelchair. He can only take a few steps (with help), and cannot properly walk anymore. Our home had to be remodelled with tools that help him move around during the day. Because we live in an “upside down” house, the entrance and the living room is on the top floor, and our bedroom and bathroom is on the bottom floor. Each day, he has to walk up three levels (24 steps in total), and then down again in the evening, very slowly, with help, stressed and scared he is going to slip or fall. The stairlift we requested, designed for our stairs, would cost £5,900 including the cost of the installation. We kindly ask for your help with this! Even the smallest amount counts!
Thank you!
