Stage 4 cancer surviving Vet wants a home

Donation protected

A veteran who survived stage 4 cancer has a second chance.

SSG Caperton was diagnosed the summer of 2018 with Buccal cancer and under went a 12 hour surgery to remove the cancer. Within 6 months he receive a second diagnosis of stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the head and neck. The tumors grew within weeks and penetrated the bone marrow, vascular and lymph systems.  Again he went through a massive surgery with bone and tissue transplant.  He then had a 3rd surgery to remove a tumor from the voice box, with another tissue transplant. He underwent 2 separate rounds of radiation and rounds of chemo therapy.  During the multiple radiation and chemo therapy sets he lost over 130 pounds and had severe  illness, resulting in a feeding tube. Ron is still working through some nutritional issues.  He has finally completed most of his immunotherapy. He will not be able to complete the whole 2 years like planed. The immunotherapy has caused more illness and 2 hospitalizations in the recent months.

Ron is feeling very good again now that the therapy’s have work out of his system. He has been out daily with Keeta on walks and play time. He is all over town finding and experiencing life again. He loves this area and is so happy to be here... well, we both are.

I (Jodee) lost her job due to the amount of time away from work needed to take care of Ron.
We had decided to move out of CA to AZ, a place we thought would be easier to survive. We literally sold EVERYTHING. We were able to keep some clothing, pots and pans and towels that fit in our 25ft travel trailer.

When Ron arrived in AZ, the dream was short lived, it just was not feasible. We continued on to Oregon where we have some fabulous friends who have taken us in.  With their help we have been cleaning up our credit and bills accumulated over the last 2 years. Being sick is extremely expensive! That being said, things have happened rather quickly and we are able to purchase a home we can afford. However it happened so fast that we haven’t had time to save up for closing costs, inspection fees and of course to refurnish our home.... we don’t even have a bed anymore.

This is rather hard to ask, but any help is appreciated.
