St. Pius School in Kenya Supplies

Tax deductible
Friends and family,

Have you ever just pocketed a pen you'd forgotten was in your hand?  This basic item that we easily pick up or dig out of our pockets or purses is a precious commody to young students in Kitale, Kenya.

When my friend, June, told me that the children who go to the the St. Pius school in Kitale did not have any school supplies, I was deeply saddened.

Can you imagine if your kids went to a school where they did not have any pencils or paper?

When I heard about this, I vowed to make sure that every child at the school would have the basic
supplies they need to learn.

Over the past six months I have worked with June to understand the needs of the students and procure the materials from a supplier who prepares and packages school materials.  The teachers at the school created a list for us of the number of students in each class (grades K-4) along with the materials that they needed. June and I also identified some other items we thought would be useful for the students, such as hygiene kits with toothbrushes and toothpaste, water bottles and backpacks. (There is no Walmart in Kitale!) I've also worked with local art teachers in Dallas to identify supplies so that we can provide the children with items to place in a supply closet for creative activities.

Kitale is a rural village about 6 hours drive from June's home in Nairobi, Kenya. June and her family generously
donated the building and design (June's an architect) for the Saint Pius School and I have promised to provide the supplies.

And, we would love it if you would help us!

ANY DONATION IS APPRECIATED.

Thank you for your support!

with much love and gratitude,
Melissa, Michael, Julian and Charlotte
