St. Patrick Tanzania Global Health Ministry

A group of St. Patrick's parishioners has joined forces with Catholic sisters in Tanzania to provide medical care to a remote village, Kifuru. They are providing maternity care and ongoing care for young mothers and their children. They serve about 900 people a year and not only provide care to the village of Kifuru but also to the surrounding rural areas that currently lack access to medical care.

Last year, we raised $15,000 and finished the construction of the clinic. It is now open for care with a full-time doctor! We are hoping to raise another $40,000 for a four-wheel-drive vehicle ($20,000) for the Sisters to transport patients in case of emergency to the nearest hospital, as well as from rural villages to the clinic. The village roads are made of dirt and are especially difficult to traverse when it rains. We also hope to raise money for a well ($20,000), as currently people have to walk up to 13 kilometers to access water and many of the conditions the Sisters treat could be preventable with access to clean drinking water.
