St. James School - One More Year!

St. James Catholic School is the spiritual and educational home for just over 100 students in Belvidere, IL. It is the only Catholic school in Boone County, Illinois.
On Friday, April 24, parents were told that due to low enrollment and the devastating financial impact on our parish due to COVID-19 closings, it may be impossible to reopen St. James School in Fall 2020.
While we understand the financial constraints that many Catholic schools face today, our students, teachers, and parents are praying for one more year!
In most closing situations students, teachers, and parents have emotional closure and ample time to make arrangements as closings are often announced six months to a year in advance. In this case, the students were unknowingly ripped from their school year on March 12 and truly need the opportunity to return to St. James School for the 2020-2021 school year.
Our parish is working with the Diocese of Rockford to remedy the situation. However, as parents, we are starting this fundraiser to replace the canceled and missed fundraisers that would have occurred this spring.
As many of you know, Catholic schools are very special places. St. James is no different. It is a school of eager students, passionate teachers, and hardworking families. If you have any connection to St. James School or to Catholic education in general, please consider supporting our school. Any money raised will be used for the school. Should the school not remain open, it will be earmarked for the Religious Education/Sunday School program at St. James. Thank you for your support! God Bless!
