St Barrucs, Early Onset Dementia, Barry Hospital

Donation protected

So I have been fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society for the last few months by completing a 100 mile running distance in April as well as a 26.2 mile hike across Brecon Beacons.

Unfortunately the hike has been delayed to September and rather than just accept this delay, I thought it would be a great opportunity to really challenge myself and attempt 3 marathons in 3 days on the same weekend my trek was due to take place.

My 63 year old Dad has lived with Alzheimers for the past 3 years, drastically deteriorating over the last year resulting in 24 hour care at St Barrucs early onset dementia ward in Barry Hospital. The staff there have been extraordinary looking after my Dad and providing tremendous support to us as a family, and I would really love to raise some funds for the ward to help them with their care towards their patients.

These funds can help towards activities for the patients and, when restrictions ease, day trips to get them away from the ward for much needed time off the premises.

My Dads battle is getting more difficult each day he is living with this awful illness and I want to use this motivation to battle 3 marathons in as many days.

This challenge wont come close to what he is going through but I know it will push me beyond what I think I am physically capable of. My Dads battle is enough for me mentally to push on and complete this difficult challenge!
