My son Ryan is 11 years old. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2014. It has been a difficult journey but every day Ryan is learning to make the needed life style changes to deal with his condition. Currently Ryan is on an Insulin Pump and requires an average of 6-8 glucose level checks throughout the day. Recently we became aware that there are Service Dogs who help individuals with Type 1 Diabetes. These dogs go through extensive training to be able to sniff out changes in blood sugar. If there are significant changes in blood level, a Service Dog would alert Ryan and those around him that his sugar is either decreasing or increasing which could be life threatening for Ryan. Having a Service Dog for Ryan would improve his quality of life and allow him to be a child as well as allow us to focus on parenting rather than nursing. We are humbly asking for any donations to help us reach our goal to be able to provide Ryan with this life changing opportunity. Thank you!
Ryan es un niño de 11 años. Se le diagnosticó diabetes tipo 1 en 2014. Ha sido difícil, pero todos los días Ryan está aprendiendo a hacer los cambios necesarios de estilo de vida para poder tener una vida mejor. Actualmente Ryan es usa una pompa de insulina y requiere un promedio de 6-8 pruebas de nivel de glucosa durante todo el día. Recientemente nos hemos dado cuenta de que hay perros de servicios que ayudan a las personas con diabetes tipo 1. Estos perros pasan por un entrenamiento extenso para ser capaces de detectar cambios en el azúcar en la sangre. Si hay cambios significativos en el nivel de la sangre, el perro de servicio alertaría a Ryan y los que le rodean que su azúcar está bien disminuyendo o aumentando el cual podría ser mortal para Ryan. Tener un perro de servicio para Ryan mejoraría su calidad de vida y permitiría que él sea un niño normal, así como permitiria que nos centremos en la crianza en lugar de enfermería de Ryan. Estamos humildemente pidiendo donaciones para ayudarnos a alcanzar nuestro objetivo de ser capaces de proporcionar a Ryan con esta oportunidad que le cambie la vida. ¡Gracias!
