Foster Youth Explore SDSU

Donation protected
There are approximately 100 foster youth in grades K-6 in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Many of these children have not been exposed to the idea of college or do not think that going to college is possible for them. Considering their poorer life outcomes, employment and incarceration rates, support for these students is needed. SDSU Explorer Day gives foster youth a chance to visit a local college and envision a different future for themselves. Visiting a college campus and hearing from former foster youth at the University can help expand the dreams and aspirations of these students.

Chula Vista Elementary School District’s District Social Workers are bringing 40 foster youth and their caretakers, biological family, and/or CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to San Diego State University on Saturday, March 17th for SDSU Explorer Day. Attendees will receive a tour, get to see SDSU during their annual open house, eat lunch, and hear from a panel of Guardian Scholars as well as students at SDSU who were former foster youth.

Please help us make this life-changing trip possible and consider donating to this event. If 200 people donate $10 each, we can fully fund this trip for these students! Thank you for your support in advance.
