About a year ago, my beautiful wife of 25 years was diagnosed with Breast Cancer - To say we were all shocked would be an understatement - I think she had been sick twice in the 30 years that I have known her - A topic that thankfully we knew a little about quickly became an all-in journey to research, educate and choose a path of action. All along, Deana was so positive and ready to take this battle head on
After a successful surgery, we prepared for a long recovery - Deana was so strong and worked her way through the tough surgery recovery, chemotherapy, radiation over many months while trying to take care of the entire family. She was truly amazing!!
What was as amazing was the outpouring from our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and complete strangers during these many months of recovery
We would have not made it through this without all the support that so many people gave us. I mean this, we would have NOT made it through
We will never be the same but in many ways we are some much more blessed and are truly grateful for all of the special people in our lives as well as angels that gave to us without even knowing us
So that is our mission this year! Pay It Forward!!
Help others that are going through what we went through - donate to friends, co-workers, or complete strangers battling breast cancer and struggling to get through this tough period.
I am running the Long Island 1/2 Marathon as a gesture for healthy living but my heart is with my love Deana who has always taken care of all of us and is looking forward to many years ahead of all that life brings
