Hello everyone.
My name is Jessica. I am in my 30s. I am a single, full-time working mom of one amazing kiddo. I have a been a Cystic Fibrosis warrior sense I was born. I have worked very hard to stay healthy and have done a pretty dang good job.
However, in December I noticed a mass in my abdomen. There was a very long period of testing and biopsies and I was diagnosed with a malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumor. This took me and everyone who knows be by surprise. You don't think you're going to face something like this when you're already fighting another major, but completely unrelated, battle.
I am currently on oral chemo and will have surgery here in the next few months.
I recognize that I have a high goal. But the closer I can get to this goal the less stressed I will be as I support myself.
I sat down with a good friend and here is a list of items totaled. Deductible, OOP, income to cover when I will be out if work, pain management, nutritional needs, travel back and forth from MUSC and more that I can't remember right now.
If you can give anything to help get me through this time I would be so very grateful. If you can not give much but would like to help raise money and then contribute what you raised that would be amazing!
When I've kicked this if I end up with a surplus I plan to finish my pledge donation to my church's new building and the rest will be given to the next person who has a "holy crap how am I going to get through this?" diagnosis.
