Pride Parade T-shirts for 186 GSAs
Donation protected
The students in our Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) come from a variety of backgrounds, abilities, and cultures. Our GSA sponsors are all teachers who happen to be 'Straight Allies' who facilitate safe spaces for gathering and discussion, extracurricular activities to promote positive culture and awareness, and connection to needed services in the school and community. We also promote acceptance and celebration of religious, racial, and political diversity.
LGBTQ students deserve a school community that accepts and celebrates differences. This includes our participation in Springfield's Pridefest Parade. Our GSAs are being honored by being afforded the front position in the parade, with all of the sponsors riding in a truck as Grand Marshalls at the very front. We look forward to having a strong united presence, and would really love to have matching T-shirts to highlight the strong participation and unity our district has. We are expecting around 20 students, sponsors, and parents per middle and high school (8 schools) for a total of 150-200 participants, and hope to raise $2000.00 (current estimate is $9.95 per shirt because the rainbow colors are expensive, but we are working to find a better deal!). Extra T-Shirts will be sold at the festival for $15 each to benefit the clubs. When we reach the point that we can have at least 100 T-shirts, our fundraising coordinator, Mr. March, will deposit the funds to his own personal account to facilitate online ordering with customink.com and provide the receipts to our Administrative Assistant who manages club funds.
