Education to Prevent Trafficking in Nepal

In 2021, survivor-activist Anjali Tamang opened a school in her village of Nepal to prevent trafficking and provide a bright future to the next generation. The school construction was completed late last year, and school opened in October. We are now educating over 100 children, including 65 in early grades at our school, and 35 older girls who we sponsor and support to attend local government schools and colleges.

We have just begun construction of dormitories for the girls at highest risk who live too far to walk to school each day. We are now raising funds for this new construction and for the monthly running costs of the school.

"For the last 12 years, I have had a dream - to provide education and hope to children in my village in Nepal, so that they will not have to suffer the trauma of human trafficking, as I did. When I was eleven years old, I was trafficked to India, where I endured several years in a brothel in Kolkata. 

Thankfully, I was rescued and given the help and support I needed to heal and rebuild my life. The love of God, and the love and hard work of many people have gotten me to the point where I am ready to bring my dream to reality, I plan to offer a different life to children in my community, through the light of education.

Our village in the Eastern mountain region of Nepal has a huge problem with trafficking. A high percentage of the girls who grow up here are either sold into prostitution or forced into child marriage.
