I am a Civics teacher in Florida, who is organizing a trip to Washington D.C. during spring break.
Anyone who knows me knows that my students mean more to me than anything.
I am starting this campaign to help two remarkable students, which happen to be sisters. These two dedicate their time and energy, on a regular, to helping their community.
When the hurricane devastated Puerto Rico, without being asked to do so, they dedicated over 19 hours of their time, collecting and reading care packages to send to the island.
Their dedication and compassion is a rare commodity to be found in individuals of their age. However, they continue to be a constant inspiration to their peers and to our school community in all that they do.
They would love to go to Washington DC, but circumstances have not made it possible. I've reached out to local businesses and organizations since September, but to no avail ...
As the deadline approaches, I'm turning to those of you who are willing to help.
Every little bit helps, so my goal is to get 640 people I know to donate $5 in order to make this opportunity possible for them...
The price will cover round trip airfare, hotel stay, transportation, and all meals during the duration of your trip. Our nation's history is extremely important and it's up to them to experience it, past the confines of a textbook, in order to preserve it.
I don't want money to be the reason that they miss out on that opportunity.
