Sponsored Run for Caring for Connor

We are MUMS ON THE RUN and we are raising money for local charity CARING FOR CONNOR. 

Connor is a local boy with DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY.  DMD is a very rare muscle wasting disease that will rapidly effect every muscle in his body including his heart. There are many side effects such as learning difficulties, brittle bones, inflammation of the muscles, fibrosis and decreased heart function which leads to heart failure. DMD will mean that Connor will be in a power wheelchair in his teens and most boys do not survive their 20s. Connor is unaware of his condition and his family would like it to remain that way.

There is no cure for DMD but Connor's family hope one will be found before it is too late so they set up Caring for Connor to help raise funds to research secure treatment and a cure. 

Connor's family are our friends and our children have grown up with Connor.  We do not want Duchenne to take him.

At the start of lockdown we were all non-runners, as in never run in our lives - EVER! But on Friday 28th August 2020 we will be running 5K along Margate, Westbrook and Westgate seafront to raise money for Caring for Connor. 
Connor will be starting local secondary school in September and knowing we are raising money for equipment has kept us MUMS ON THE RUN!
(NB there are 14 of us running, not everyone could make the photo. 9 of us are on a weight loss mission and we have lost over 14 stone between us!!)
