My name is Kaitlyn Lane and I am 13 years old.  As many of you may know I qualified for the 2019 AMA Amateur Nationals at Loretta Lynn's Ranch! What is the AMA Amateur Nationals? Each year motocross riders from all over the United States, and even a few from other countries, take to the road to try and qualify for this race.  Riders begin at an area qualifier where they must earn a top 8 finish in their class.  They then move onto a Regional event where they must finish top 6 in their class.  Achieving a top 6 finish at Regionals earns them the golden ticket to the Loretta Lynn's Amateur National event.
This past weekend at South of the Border MX training facility I punched my ticket, coming out with a 4th overall finish in the Junior Girls class!  
Only 42 riders in each class from all over the nation get invited to this race each year, and I am one of them! I am so excited and honored to be a part of this tradition!
The Loretta Lynn race is the holy grail race for amateur motocross riders.  The event takes place over an entire week on her ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. Many of the biggest named pro motocross riders have won titles at this race over the years including Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey.
The Loretta Lynn Nationals is a sacred race and is open to only those who earn it each year.
