Sponsor Darian Stevens Baseball Equipment

Last Thursday I picked Darian up, ran to the grocery store and then stopped by the house on the way to the station to grab supplies to make dinner. The minute I opened the garage door I knew something was very wrong. There were things, boxes, clothes, suitcases everywhere, the door to my backyard was busted open and the door to the house was open as well. I Immediately shut the garage door and locked my car. Then I saw our side gate to the backyard was destroyed and laying on the ground in pieces. My next thought was my dogs. I called Jason, who was 20 minutes away and he told me not to go in the house. Darian ran next door and had the neighbors call the police as I ran inside to find my dogs. Stupid I know, I’ve heard it from Jason and the police but thank God the dogs were alive, although terrified. I couldn’t hardly get in the house. Every single piece of clothing on hangers were ripped from the closet and thrown all over the house. If it was on a shelf, in a drawer, cabinet, box or sack it was dumped on the floor. Family pictures and medication opened and slung everywhere, every cord plugged in to the wall was ripped out and thrown about. They filled my toilet up with folded, clean socks, ripped down blinds and curtains. If it wasn’t stolen they made sure it was destroyed or damaged. Words can’t describe the terror you feel when someone violates your home, your sanctuary like that. Not only did they destroy more than they took but they took every single piece of jewelry that I wasn’t wearing that day, including my original diamond wedding ring. Then they cut all the wires to our cameras and stole the hard drive. The most heartbreaking thing is they stole nearly everything Darian got for Christmas. They took his brand new Xbox, controllers and the $115 worth of credit he had to spend. They also stole his nerf guns and several pairs of his shoes. They also took his baseball bag that had nearly every baseball thing we have bought over the last 2 years, approximately $1,000 worth of gloves, bats, shoes, batting gloves, weights, helmet, etc. We are slowly but surely sorting through the disaster and trying to separate 20 years of our life that was put away in closets from the stuff we currently need to survive and decluttering along the way. The majority of our finances moving forward has and will continue to go in to fixing the fence, replacing a couple of doors, replacing the cameras around the house to an updated wireless version, and door and window alarms and security bars. The night this happened Darian had a monster anxiety attack and I thought we would have to call an ambulance. He can’t let Jason or I out of his sight for even a minute and none of us are sleeping well all 3 crammed in the same bed. He starts spring baseball practices this week and what I would like is if we could find someone or several someone’s to help sponsor Darian so that we might be able to replace at least his bat and glove, baseball bag and helmet and a few of his Christmas presents. Or we can come by and rake leaves, take out trash, run errands, anything really. I would gladly open my doors and let them take whatever else they wanted of mine just so we could feel safe again and not see my 9 year old defeated because they took everything he treasured. If you are unable to help sponsor Darian, if you could please just pray that we can find some peace and not feel terrified in our own home and that whoever did this goes away and never comes back. I know this has been long, but thank you to everyone for the offers to stay in your home and loan Darian baseball gear and just the emotional support. I hope no one ever has to live through this.
